Med hensyn til bøger, så vil jeg, for nye læsere, anbefale at man starter med Peter Harvey's; 'An Introduction to Buddhism' for at få et overblik over Buddhismens historie og traditioner, Kamalashila's; 'Meditation' som er en indføring i meditation i T'ien-t'ai skolen (tilgængelig i en gratis online version), og 'Buddha Dharma', en samling af uddrag fra mange forskellige suttaer og sutraer, der er sammensat så de udgør en samlet fortælling om hele Buddhaens liv og virke. Den er udgivet af 'Numata Centre' og kan være lidt vanskelig at få fat i, men Many Rivers Books and Tea kan altid hjælpe; http://www.manyriversbooks.com/
